JCMH connects judges and lawyers with data-driven training resources on specific mental health related laws and procedures to enable the implementation of policies and procedures within the justice system that improves the lives of individuals with mental health needs, substance abuse disorders, or intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Center for Court Innovation Online Training
The Center for Court Innovation works to create a fair, effective, and humane justice system. CCI "conceives, plans, and operates programs that seek to test new ideas, solve difficult problems, and achieve system change." CCI utilizes collaboration to accomplish these goals.
CCI offers a free video-based training website for treatment courts that includes:
HHSC: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
Mental Health Wellness for Individuals with IDD
An online, self-paced training that HHSC developed on the mental health needs of people with IDD. Created for direct service workers, the course is for anyone who supports people with IDD and consists of 6 modules that can be taken separately:
1. Co-occurring Disorders: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Mental Illness
2. Trauma-informed Care (TIC) for Individuals with IDD
3. Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support
4. Overview of Genetic Syndromes Associated with IDD
5. Overview of Medical Diagnoses Associated with IDD
6. Putting It All Together: Supports and Strategies for DSWs
